WEDDING CRAFT: TRAVEL INSPIRED TABLE NAMES THAT YOU CAN DISPLAY AFTER YOUR WEDDING

Travel inspired wedding table names

We wanted to incorporate a subtle travel theme through our wedding because we have spent so much time travelling to see each other. For new readers, who might not know what I am talking about, my German husband and I met in Australia, and then spent time travelling between Germany and England until I finally made the move in December. Every summer holiday we spent together, seeing parts of Europe including a road trip through Spain and Austria. Our first date was in London; our first holiday was in Berlin, and the question was 'popped' in Budapest. It really is a international relationship! The table-centres were all based on places that meant a lot to us and were easy to make.

A GERMAN NAIL POLISH THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE IN YOUR COLLECTION

 German Nail Polish

When I first arrived in Germany, I was shocked to discover that some brands like Revlon are just not available here. Brands like Bourjois and Rimmel can be ordered via ASOS Germany, but it isn't as simple as wandering into the equivalent of Boots (Douglas/Mueller) and snapping up a few beauty bargains. After a month here, I realised that all was not lost. There are plenty of beauty supplies readily available here, which just aren't on every high street in the UK. Things like Essence (appearing in Wilkinsons), NYX (found in Next) and Astor (a Spanish brand, sometimes found in Poundland!) are in every town in Germany. So rather than mourn the loss of make-up that I can stock-up on when I visit the UK, or even order via Boots now that they ship to Germany for around £10.00, I have decided to check out what Germany has to offer instead. I am sure other German bloggers will have been doing this for years, but to my knowledge, I have yet to find any that blog in English about it! So my first find: P2 Volume Gloss nail polishes.

HOME OFFICE INSPIRATION

black and white office inspiration

In precisely 17 days we are moving house and I will finally have the workroom space I have dreamed of, in which to write, blog and craft. There has been more than just a little bit of home inspiration pinning going on in the last few weeks and as you can expect I have more than a few ideas as to how everything might look when we get in there. A girl can dream right? So how will I adapt the ideas above to fit our new space?

POSTAGE STAMP ARTWORK - A TUTORIAL

 Stamp Artwork
We will be moving into a bigger rental property soon (dances around the room) and we are allowed to decorate it and hang pictures etc. This may be every renter's dream. This renter's dream is currently the gallery wall that I so desperately want in our new office/crafter space. While we already have some pictures from actual artists, I want to make the space as personal as possible so have a number of ideas of simple picture projects which will tie everything together and reflect 'us'. I was wandering around a particularly disappointing flea market, when I came across a sweet couple selling old stamps and postcards. I bought a mixture of 150 postage stamps for 1 Euro and went home with dreams of artwork. It is very easy to do, quick and budget friendly, so let's get started, shall we?

HOW TO: A HOMEMADE WEDDING PHOTOBOOTH

homemade photobooth
Photobooths at weddings are really fun, so it was a no-brainer decision that we wanted one for ours. The trend is just appearing in certain parts of Germany, unlike in the UK and US, where it is already outrageously popular. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to make my own 'photo-corner', with decorations and props and not just to save money. I want to keep it for future parties and celebrations. Posing in funny glasses, to me, will never get old. So how do you put together a homemade wedding photobooth? This is a step-by-step break-down of how we did it....or course, with a little help from some friends.

MY ZURICH MAKE-UP BAG

Now that my German lessons are on a break, I finally have chance to enjoy a little break away. One bonus of living in Germany is that we are so close to many other countries. As you are reading this, I am in Zurich (obviously!), but I thought I would share with you what make-up I took with me. I am also going to try and vlog for the first time ever, so you will actually (hopefully) get to see what is on my face during this time. If it sucks nuts, I won't be showing it though! (Not my face...the vlog!)

WEDDING CRAFT ROUND-UP: TISSUE PAPER POM-POM TUTORIAL AND OTHER WAYS TO MAKE YOUR PARTY CEILING PRETTY.

Pom-Pom Wedding
The pom-pom wedding trend is nothing new...if anything it is a little 2012; but since I first saw our venue (a very plain concert hall), I knew they would be a perfect solution to make the hall seem more festive and fun. It is easier than ever to pop into a craft store and buy the fluffy wonders, flat-packed in threes and in different colours, if you are willing to spend at least £5 (or in Germany nearly 8 Euros)for the privilege. They are also available on ebay and actually for some reasonable prices if you aren't a crafter, or have no time before your wedding to fit in a few evenings of paper folding. But the best option for anyone who has basic folding and cutting skills, and a week of free evenings is to make your own. I made over 35 pom-poms for less than 10 Euro, and still have packs of tissue paper left over for future crafting. If you want to skip ahead for alternative ceiling ideas.....scroll down to after the tutorial! So here's how you make them:

WE TIED THE KNOT - AND HOW CRAFTBOTIC IS CHANGING!

Craft blog

Well hello, again. It has been so long since I wrote on here that I am now a married woman (well, technically a twice married woman). Since November, when I last wrote, a LOT has happened. I stopped working, moved to German, attended 480 HOURS of German lessons, planned my church wedding, crafted all of the decorations and found us a bigger flat to move into. I probably don't need to say, that in this time, I changed a bit as a person. Now that I have figured out what that means, I am ready to start blogging again. So what's changing in this here blog?
