5 Reasons You Should Stop Talking About It and Start Living

The last 14 days have been an absolute whirlwind. I have spent much of it working, worrying about work and detached from the people and pastimes I love. There has been: a new pregnancy (a colleague), a new baby, a 30th birthday, a 2 year anniversary, a scary diagnosis,  and a sudden death of someone my age. Life has been like a series of events that happen on the news, or in my case Twitter and Facebook.

Reflecting on this, these are the reasons why you AND I need to start living right now:
1. Life is short. As clichéd as that sounds, it's true. No-one is guaranteed their 85 years on earth. Do you want to spend yours glued to your work or leaving your dreams behind?
2. Life is scary, but this isn't a reason not to live it. So you want to move abroad, start a family, marry, start a craft business, or café-bookshop-crafts-workshop-venue....then do it. Throw your fears out with your leftover junk. Please see point one!
3. Life is perplexing, yet you can enjoy it without having everything figured out. This is a hard one for me as a fervent planner. Everything will probably turn out O.K. in the end; the future, if you think about it, never arrives, so live NOW while you can appreciate what is in front of you.
4. Life is outside of a screen. That's right. I'd prefer you not to read point five and go outside right now and become your own private hippy. Take a big breath of air, wonder at what is straight in-front of your nose and maybe roll around in some flowers, or dangle your feet in fresh water, or throw a stick for your dog.
5. Life is love. Feel life, love openly, love decadently, let people inside your heart. As a wise lady once said to me: "Remember not to be so busy that you forget to let anybody love you." (Thanks Nanna) Tell your friends and family you love them, often. In fact, please go and do it now.

What does living mean to you?
{Rest in Peace, Emma}
While we were not the closest, you were one of the best to my friends and an unforgettable personality, fellow mocker of monkeys in Lyon and the only one capable of opening the wine while laughing wholeheartedly at the same time.

You really manage to turn all of the things that have happened these past two weeks, happy and sad, into a positive message. Way to go! I really hope that means you are already packing your boxes ;-)

Wow, I am sorry for your lost. I honestly loved your 5 things list. Since losing some friends at a young age I have been living by a list similar. Hugs!

I'm very sorry for your loss!

Living changes day by day, some days, it's enough to just get through it and other days it's about the adventure and the experience. But at the end of each day it's about being with people you love.

Oh, Rosie. You are wise, and I love that you can take what's happened and put an optimistic spin to it. I'm sorry for your loss, and you'll be in my prayers!

Rosie, I am so sorry for your loss. But your post truly serves as a reminder of how short it is and how we must live everyday as much as we can! Thanks for the inspiration!
